~ TAX REVIEWER ~

Welcome! This Tax Reviewer position will be responsible for reviewing tax returns and reviewing client documentation. This role requires knowledge of federal and state individual income tax regulations and experience preparing and/or reviewing tax returns. Training on our software and processes are provided, but a comfort level with technology is a must, including experience preparing returns online. Specific responsibilities include:

 

  • 100% Client Work
  • Review documentation submitted by client for inclusion in federal and state tax returns.
  • Review income tax returns to ensure accuracy in an efficient manner.
  • Communicate with internal tax leaders to provide a complete work product.
  • Work efficiently with electronic documents using designated computer applications.
  • Maintain confidentiality with client information in accordance with related laws and regulations and adhere to all SVA policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

  • This position reports to an in-charge accountant and/or the firm’s principals. It does not have supervisory responsibility, but will provide staff feedback to those preparing assigned work.

 

  • Seasonal Tax Reviewers typically start working around the end of January through approximately April 15 and may return each year depending on our client’s needs and the preparer's availability. After some initial training, hours are flexible and this position could work between 20-40 hours/ week depending on availability.

~ Seasonal Tax Preparer ~

 Welcome! Whether you work from our office or from your home, this Seasonal Tax Preparer position offers days and evenings with flexible hours, but typically less than 30 hours per week - you can choose your hours. This position has the potential to eventually become a permanent full-time annual or seasonal position depending on the right fit. The desired candidate must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently. Innovation and drive are critical success factors and a positive and collaborative mind-set is a must.

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO (you may request further detail):

  • Prepare individual tax returns
  • Review and prepare financial records such as income statements and documentation of expenditures to determine forms needed to prepare tax returns.
  • Communicate directly with clients on tax-related questions and issues, and respond to clients appropriately and within a timely manner.
  • Examine all tax return forms for accuracy and completeness (i.e., client signatures) and comply with filing due dates
  • Perform tax research where appropriate
  • Obtain proper filing extensions when necessary
  • Support the overall delivery of services to build and maintain client relationships.

 

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • At least two years of successful previous experience in personal tax return preparation
  • Minimum of an Associate Degree in Accounting or related field preferred
  • AFSP designation and knowledge of Drake software desired
  • Knowledge of current tax law and current Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) required
  • Ability to work independently and exercise excellent judgment in order to reflect the company’s values
  • High level of attention to detail, especially under pressure
  • Ability to manage deadlines independently
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when preparing and processing transaction paperwork
  • Polished, professional and friendly demeanor

 

COMPENSATION AND HOURS:

  • Hourly compensation is negotiable depending on experience and initiative
  • Bonus potential at the end of tax season
  • Option to work hybrid from the office or remotely. 
  • Flexible days and hours negotiable for daytime/evening work hours – approximately 30 hours per week. Their business hours are:

Monday – Friday 8 am – 8 pm

Saturday 8:30 am – 2:30 pm

  • This can become an ongoing seasonal position with the company.

~ Front Desk Receptionist for Tax Office ~

Welcome! This Receptionist position is full-time during tax season (January - April). Potential to have additional hours for someone with accounting and bookkeeping skills.

 

  • During tax season (Jan – April) – mostly full-time with hours to be determined within the office hours of:

• Monday - Friday 8:00 am – 8:00 pm

• Saturday 8:00 am - 2:30 pm

 

The desired candidate must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently. Experience is preferred, but not required. We will train the right candidates. All candidates must have excellent communication skills, a positive attitude and individual motivation. There is an opportunity for someone with bookkeeping skills to have additional tasks to assist in as well and build out the position.

  • Answer telephone, greet visitors and make appointments as needed
  • Maintain client confidentiality
  • Retrieve and record messages for various personnel
  • Assist with other related clerical duties such as photocopying, faxing, filing and collating
  • Handle mailings and postage needs
  • Support the overall delivery of services to build and maintain client relationships
  • Additional duties as assigned

COMPENSATION AND HOURS

  • Compensation is negotiable depending on experience and initiative as well as having bookkeeping/payroll experience.
  • Bonus potential at the end of tax season
  • Flexible days and hours negotiable for daytime/evening work hours – Hours vary depending on company volume and your efficiency each week. Flexibility to work around school hours and other part time employment.
